FOR WEST AUSSIES, BY WEST AUSSIES

At the Three Pound Group, we create venues for West Aussies because we are West Aussies. We aim to understand how our venues can contribute and add value to our culture and way of living. Post COVID the world looks a little different. And whilst the pub used to be a drinking hole of sorts in the past, now it is a social experience that we as humans really struggle wihtout.

A yougov survey commissioned by the International Alliance for responsible Drinking turned out these stats:

  • 67% of adults surveyed in Australia said the closure of cafés, bars, and restaurants negatively impacted the social and mental wellbeing of the general population

  • 45% agreed that their own social and mental wellbeing had been negatively affected

  • 62% of adults had a better appreciation for the contribution the hospitality sector brings to their own social and mental wellbeing

  • Over one-in-five (28%) said cafés, bars, and restaurants now have greater significance as places to avoid feelings of loneliness

  • 49% agreed that socialising with friends and family outside the home once any restrictions lifted has had the biggest impact on their happiness

And yet, in a 2024 yougov survey, 71% of APAC consumers have indicated they will cut back spending on alcoholic drinks if current inflation rates persist – the highest of all the categories seen as being the novelty spend.

So, what we can take from this is that hospitality venues have seen a pivot in the eyes of the consumer. Demand for alcoholic beverages are elastic in nature, however demand for the social aspect of hospitality venues remains somewhat inelastic.

This means that what we deliver as a venue needs to be more than just about alcohol, it needs to be about ambience and being welcoming, open to bigger groups and families, places where West Australians feel comfortable.

This is why the Three Pound Group venues pride ourselves in providing  live music, space for larger groups, kid friendly areas (both of the human and fur variety), value for money deals and just overall simplicity, so everyone feels welcome.

Whether you are coming for a beer with the lads, catching up for a coffee and dessert with Nanna or meeting the mothers’ group for a lunch catch up where all 6 of you can bring your prams, the Three Pound Group are proud to offer something for everyone.
